Altitude or a tumble on the slopes? See a doctor fast
At 6,000+ feet, Tahoe can bring altitude headaches, dehydration, and fierce sun — plus the occasional sprain from the slopes or the trail. Driving down the mountain to an urgent care isn’t how you want to spend a ski day. Vacation Medicine treats these by video, right from your cabin or condo.
Altitude sickness, dehydration, sunburn and sun exposure, sprains and minor injuries, bug bites and rashes, ear infections, UTIs, sinus and respiratory infections, sore throats, and COVID and flu.
Vacation Medicine was founded by Dr. Erik Petersen and Dr. Will Carlson, board-certified emergency physicians with 25+ years of combined experience and 50,000+ patients treated. Licensed in California and 20+ other states, we’re built specifically for travelers who need fast, physician-led care without leaving where they’re staying.
We can send your prescription to whichever Lake Tahoe-area pharmacy is most convenient. Use the button below to find pharmacies near where you’re staying.
Can you treat me at my Lake Tahoe hotel or rental?

How fast can I be seen?
Most visits start within minutes and take about 10–15 minutes start to finish.
Can you send a prescription to a pharmacy near me?
Yes — we send prescriptions electronically to the Lake Tahoe-area pharmacy most convenient to you.
What does it cost?
A flat $100 per visit, including a full week of follow-up messaging. We’re direct-pay and don’t bill insurance.
What if I need to be seen in person?
In the rare case you need a higher level of care, we’ll help you find the nearest Lake Tahoe ER or clinic — at no cost for the virtual visit.
