Maui is snorkeling, the Road to Hana, and long beach days — with limited and costly urgent care if something goes wrong. Sunburn, dehydration, coral cuts, swimmer’s ear, or a stomach bug don’t need to derail the trip. Vacation Medicine treats them by video, from Kihei to Lahaina, and sends any prescription to a nearby pharmacy.
Sunburn and heat-related illness, dehydration, coral scrapes and reef cuts, swimmer’s ear and ear infections, jellyfish stings, UTIs, sinus and respiratory infections, sore throats, COVID and flu, and food poisoning with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Vacation Medicine was founded by Dr. Erik Petersen and Dr. Will Carlson, board-certified emergency physicians with 25+ years of combined experience and 50,000+ patients treated. Licensed in Hawaii and 20+ other states, we’re built specifically for travelers who need fast, physician-led care without leaving where they’re staying.
Yes. As long as you’re physically in Hawaii at the time of the visit, you can be seen by video from anywhere — your rental, hotel, or wherever you’re staying.
How fast can I be seen?
Most visits start within minutes and take about 10–15 minutes start to finish.
Can you send a prescription to a pharmacy near me?
Yes — we send prescriptions electronically to the Maui-area pharmacy most convenient to you.
What does it cost?
A flat $100 per visit, including a full week of follow-up messaging. We’re direct-pay and don’t bill insurance.
What if I need to be seen in person?
In the rare case you need a higher level of care, we’ll help you find the nearest Maui ER or clinic — at no cost for the virtual visit.
