Strep throat (Group A Streptococcus) hits fast. Unlike a typical sore throat from a cold, strep throat is usually more severe and requires antibiotic treatment.
Our physicians use the Centor and McIsaac criteria — established clinical scoring tools — to assess strep probability based on your symptoms. For patients who score high, we prescribe antibiotics. For moderate scores, we may recommend confirming with a rapid strep test at a local pharmacy or clinic before starting treatment.
